In the meeting they moved to adopt the draft schedule of fees for 2014/2015 and include them in the draft operational plan.
Councils are required by law to adopt an operational plan which details planned activities before the beginning of each financial year.
The schedule of fees and charges forms part of the revenue policy for the year covered by the operational plan which then has to be included.
The proposed fees and charges for 2014/2015 were presented to council at a workshop on April 17. In general, the fees reflected a CPI increase of 2.99 per cent, although there were variations from this.
As the fees and charges form part of the revenue policy and operational plan it is important that they be reviewed in the context of council’s ability to recover costs wherever possible.
