AN all-star line-up is expected to descend on Moree this weekend for the MX Nationals.
Jay Marmont, Tye Simmonds and Jay Wilson will be returning to defend their titles in the ninth round of the series.
Moree Motorcycle Club vice president John Armstrong said the best riders from around the country were expected to compete. “We can expect to see some really talented factory riders and some riders from overseas,” Armstrong said.
Josh Coppins from New Zealand and Billy McKenzie from England will be two overseas riders to look out for. Locals Trent Loder, Nick Sutherland and Jack Sinclair will be joining the pro riders and will be looking to use their home ground advantage.
“I’m looking forward to getting out there and competing against some great riders. If I place in the top 20 I’ll be pretty happy,” Sinclair said.
In the junior ranks Yamaha Development team rider Joel Wightman will be tough to beat if he maintains the form that has bagged him the NSW 250cc championship.
About 100 riders will be trackside for this weekend’s event. “It’s one of the biggest meetings in NSW on the MX racing calendar,” Armstrong said.
“We always attract a big crowd. They just love coming back here.”
It will be the third time Moree has hosted a round of the national series. The action will kick off at 8.30am on Sunday with the first race set to start at 10am. Factory riders will be heading to Thomas Lee Motorcycles on Saturday morning for a meet and greet with local fans or you can see them trackside.
