In fact, it’s made him even more determined to keep applying until he gets in, but he wants to spread a message to everyone to strive for their ambitions.
“Just because you are from the country, doesn’t mean you should be limited, so if you’ve got a goal, just go for it!” David says.
The 18-year-old applied twice this year to be a contestant on Big Brother.
He, along with other hopefuls, had to confess facts about themselves, play story and drama games and choose to agree or disagree with a series of statements.
“There were 12 in each group and a lot of different personalities,” David said.
Considering the unique characters to come from the show in the past the Champion asked David if there were any stand-out personalities at the auditions.
“There was one guy who really surprised me,” he said.
“Tully was there from last year chatting to everyone but this guy just seemed really socially awkward. He didn’t even know what a selfie was, yet he got through to the next round,” David said, puzzled.
The outgoing teen said one of the main reasons he applied to go on the show was to see if he could survive without his mum and dad to help out.
“I kind of have two personalities,” he admitted.
“One where I’m really outgoing and like, let’s do it. And one where I’m more shy.
“If I was on TV I wouldn’t care what people think of me. You just have to be yourself and do what you want.”
David has a few favourite personalities from shows gone-by including Alice the vet, country girl Zoe and last year’s Mikkayla.
And maybe not if, but when, David is successful in entering the Big Brother house he reckons his favourite place would be the diary room.
“I feel like I’d be in there quite a lot,” he said.
For now, David will go back to his day job at Target but he’ll apply for the show again next year.
“Big Brother, then whatever pops up,” he said about possible other reality series’.
“I’ve got no talent to go on anything like the Voice or something though, so it’s Big Brother for me,” he laughed.
