The 19-year-old recorded the five-track album at Enrec Studios in Tamworth.
The tracks include both the Australian and New Zealand national anthems, along with two church hymns frequently played at Anzac services, and one of Lauren’s original songs, ‘Fallen Heroes’.
Lauren originally wrote the song as a poem for a Year 10 assignment.
“My great grandfather went to war but I never got to meet him. I’ve heard funny stories from my grandparents that have been passed down. It’s good to hear a different side of what happened, rather than just what you learn in a text book,” Lauren said.
“I think some traditions can get lost so it’s great to keep the Anzac history alive and it would be good if we could get more young people involved and help them understand it,” she said.
Lauren said the Moree sub branch of the RSL helped sponsor the creating of the CD.
“They were very supportive and thought it was a great idea,” she said.
“They couldn’t wait to hear the finished product.
“The proceeds from the CD will also go back to them,” she added.
Lauren will perform her original song at next week’s main Anzac service at the Moree town hall where she will also have CDs available to purchase.
Lauren hopes this won’t be the first and last album she ever produces.
“I’d like to write an album just for me one day,” she said.
“I’ve been singing for a few years and I’ve written a few songs but I really got into it about eight years ago.
“I’ve also been learning to play the piano for about 12 years. I love it.”
Lauren has performed in school music nights and won the Moree Superstar competition in 2012.
She would like to attend gigs around town as a hobby but would one day like to audition for the likes of X Factor or The Voice.
“That would be pretty cool. It’s a pretty tough business to get into,” she said.
But that might be some time down the road as for now Lauren is concentrating on her career.
She is in her second year of university studying as a secondary school music teacher.
