ZONE eight Pony Club riders from Bingara, Garah-Boomi, Gravesend, North Star and Warialda competed with success at the Pony Club NSW State Sporting and Campdrafting Championships held at the Tenterfield Showground at the weekend.

The championships attracted entries from all over NSW and QLD.
State sporting took centre stage on Saturday with more than 180 entries in five different age groups, battling it out across seven sporting events; flag race, diamond flag, bending race, three mug race and bonfield bounce. The State Campdrafting Championships were held on Sunday and attracted around 130 entries, many of whom had competed in the sporting events the previous day.
Zone eight chief instructor, Julie Morgan said it was a successful weekend.
“All members showed great skill over the weekend,” she said.
“Age groups were large with between 30 and 50 riders in each group and all zone eight riders were very competitive in their age group.”
Sporting championship results for zone eight were:
Darcy Bolch - North Star Pony Club, 10 and under 13 years, fourth diamond flag, seventh mug race, sixth running Tee, sixth bonfield bounce
Rhiannon Byers - Gravesend Pony Club, 13 and under 15 years, third flag race and fastest time in heats
Jessica Towns - Gravesend Pony Club, 13 and under 15 years, ninth bending race
Melanie Cleal - Warialda Pony Club, 15 and under 17 years, 10th bending race
Campdraft Championship results for zone eight riders were:
Melanie Cleal – Warialda Pony Club, 15 and under 17 years, fifth
Rhiannon Byers – Gravesend Pony Club, 13 and under 15 years, eighth
Ammie Cleal (Warialda Pony Club), Lexie Brown (Bingara Pony Club), Hayley Hancock (Garah-Boomi Pony Club) and Charlee Haley (Gravesend Pony Club) all rode well during the two days of competition and gained places in the top 20.
