Producer Warren Ryan has worked on the show with Australian Professional Rodeo Association administrator Steve Hilton.
The first show at 8.30pm Saturday (Jan 18) on Aurora TV on Foxtel and Optus Digital will be on the 2013 Warwick Rodeo before Ryan focuses on many of the characters of the sport in future shows.
"Wendy Caban is a salt of the earth country girl from Moree and has been so consistent over the years. She will be the focus of one of the early shows," Ryan said.
The top 15 in all eight APRA championship events will qualify for the National Finals Rodeo at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre at Caboolture on May 1-4.
As well as Caban, Ryan plans to travel to Central Queensland and Southern New South Wales to shoot TV shows on some of the stars of the sport in the run up to May.
Emerald rider Shane Kenny, the most successful cowboy in APRA history, former world rookie champion Brad Pierce, Tooma, NSW, and Wantabadgery (NSW) rider Rhys Angland will be three of the cowboys to be profiled.
"The ultimate goal will be to create personalities in the sport," he said. "No-one does it better than the Americans with their Nascar drivers and families."
Inside Rodeo TV won't be just about the cowboys and cowgirls in the competition ring.
He has already visited Rick and Bec Knudsen who are breeding horses at Taroom for barrel racing and buckjumping and plans a program on one of the long-time contractors.
"Rodeo is a family sport and a big part of rural Australia," he said.
