STRIKE!

THE big day has finally come and guess what Moree, we did it!

Shake Rattle ‘N’ Bowl will be here by the end of the year.

Shane and Melissa Williams said they had an absolute headache deciding between Moree and Inverell.

“We thought one town would pick this up much better than the other and make our decision much easier,” Mr Williams said. The response from the proposal and the tremendous community support even had our politicians taking note with the Premier making a call to Mr Williams saying he was watching what was happening.

“Both towns went to war over this with unbelievable support from both communities so we have decided to build one in Moree and one in Inverell as well,” he revealed.

“Our thoughts are that this would help both towns from an economic and social aspect and would help our business with competitions between the two towns with bowling in the future.

“The building in Moree is not set yet as we have some options on buildings to work through but we plan to have this centre open all going well for the Christmas holidays.

“And one final thing out of all the talks, emails (there were more than 7000 of them), Facebook hits and meetings, it came down to one person in Moree who sold us on our decision to build the two centres. “It was my talk with Megan Mayo from the PCYC; she is a real asset to the Moree community.”

What our organisations said about the verdict

Katrina Humphries - Moree Mayor

“Yaaay! Just what we need and deserve.

“Welcoming the bowling alley with open arms; Can’t wait for it to happen.

“At long last a forward thinking, smart working investor can see the opportunities in our community.”

Tammy Elbourne - Tourism Moree CEO

“I think it will be a wonderful thing for the Moree Plains.

“It will be another product to add to our tourism portfolio to attract more families and visitors into our community.

“It will be a nice way to package up our newly established Moree hot artesian swimming complex with the bowling alley for families to come and enjoy.”

Lloyd Munro - Miyay Birray chairman

“I think he has weighed up both towns’ proposals and we have come out on top.”

“It’s a great thing for our community and our kids will benefit.

“We will be able to run programs during the school holidays for not only our town but our entire shire.

“It will be a great family atmosphere.”

Andrew Ryan - PCYC club manager

“I think it’s fantastic news that we’ve got the bowling alley.

“It gives the kids in this town some variety; we have the PCYC and outdoor sports but they need somewhere to go with their families.”
