THE pilot of a crop duster plane has died after it crashed and caught fire in a vacant paddock west of Moree on the Gingham Road.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 9am yesterday.
Upon arrival emergency services found the pilot, and sole occupant of the aircraft, to be deceased.
The man was not believed to be local and was apparently travelling between towns when the accident occurred.
A crime scene was established with local detectives investigating the incident.
Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigators were on their way yesterday afternoon.
There were no more details available at the time.
