Last weekend Lane was up against some heavy competition in the elite division and out of 40 men Lane made it through to the finals.
Lane’s mother, Tracie, took the day off to watch Lane jump and do his routines.
“We always let him know that we are watching and that he has support back at home,” she said.
Lane did one compulsory bouncing routine and then a second optional routine.
“He was excellent especially with his first 11.8 degree of difficulty placed on him,” she said.
The men Lane was up against were not only older, stronger and wiser than him but also had between three to four points of difficulty.
Out of eight places in the finals Lane came seventh and earned himself a point.
For each national event that Lane participates in, if he makes the finals, he will get a point.
The points then accumulate and selectors for the National USA team choose the athletes with the most amount of points for their squad.
The National USA squad is being chosen in July.
“Kaidyn’s ultimate dream is to go to worlds and making the National USA squad would give him a better chance of that,” Tracie said.
Lane also competed in synchro with his partner Chant Parker from Texas.
They were in fourth place going into the finals when his partner crashed.
Lane’s next national competition will be at Cleveland in June where he will have a chance to gain more points.
