At 10am on Sunday morning Member for Upper Hunter George Souris presented the riders with a copy of the original messages of 50 years ago to be carried to Moree and presented to Moree Plains Shire Mayor Katrina Humphries on April 14.

The presentation and morning tea was held at the Warrah Creek Hall Willow Tree with the riders then departing on their trip which will follow the old roads and stock routes most of the way.

Most of this team of riders where around the age of 10 when their parents made the ride.

Keith Jones has managed Parraweena Highlands (at the head of Warrah Creek) for the Cobcroft family for the past 21 years and as the area is also the beginning of the North West Slopes and Plains, he thought it would be a fitting place to start this ride.

Acknowledgement and thanks must be given to Assefs of Moree for kindly donating the shirts, Jill Burling for the embroidered saddle cloths, Tramby and Hanks Gurley and Digby Boland Fuel for fuel, Prydes Horse feed and Manuka Chaff at Quirindi, and Sid Dart of Quirindi for his assistance as a support driver.

The men rode just over 50kms the first day from Parraweena Highlands to Premer on the Liverpool Plains, then heading to Breeza via Caroona, on to Gunnedah, Boggabri, Narrabri then out on the Wee Waa road and heading out across the Galathera Plain on their way north to Moree.

They will be in Moree on Friday, April 13 to ride in the procession the next day.
