MOREE cowgirl Wendy Caban has taken the lead in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association all-round cowgirl standings with a barrel race win at the Warwick Rodeo.

The event attracted 600 entries and it was a win from behind for Caban.
Attunga rider Brittany McVicar was the early leader with a time of 17.738 seconds but Caban shone in the final to record a two-round time of 36.077 to win overall.
She has won three of the past six all-round titles in the APRA and beat 2005 and 2006 winner Cherie O’Donoghue who was runner-up.
Going into the Rodeo, Caban trailed Alton Downs cowgirl Jorja Watkins.
In team roping, Caban’s husband Troy combined with the most successful team roper in APRA history, Johnny Osborne, of Warwick, for third place.
Caban is in a close battle with Victorian rider Gavin Walker for third place on the team roping header standings.
Upper Horton bull rider Troy Wilkinson won the open event with a two-round score of 167, he was the only rider to make time on two bulls at Warwick.
The next rodeo is the Jimna Bull Ride at Toyota Landcruiser Park, Jimna, Queensland, on November 1 and 2 for APRA championship points.
Gill Brothers will travel from Upper Horton with the bulls for the Jimna event.
There will be an APRA rodeo at Rosewood, New South Wales, on December 7 and then the Christmas Run of seven rodeos in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia starts on December 26 at Myrtleford.
