12-year-old Will Haddad, now has some new skills to show off after coming back from the New England Mutual Rugby Camp held in Armidale which hosted 275 of Australia’s most promising junior rugby union players.
Haddad, a member of the Moree Junior Rugby Union Club was selected by his club to receive a scholarship worth $415 from McDonald’s to attend the national camp which gave him the opportunity to meet Wallaby Benn Robinson and learn from top New Zealand Super 15 coaches Stephen Dodds and Reece Archibold.
Chris Rodgers, McDonald’s Moree licensee, explains the importance of the partnership and is thrilled to provide assistance to promising young athletes like Haddad, giving him the opportunity to further develop his skills and learn from some of the best coaches of the sport.
“It has been a great privilege to support Will in attending this year’s National Rugby Camp and I’m sure that it won’t be long before he plays for one of the top teams and show the rest of the nation the fantastic sporting talent we have here in Moree,” Mr Rodgers said.
“We are delighted that our partnership with the Central North Junior Rugby Union and New England Junior Rugby Union has allowed us, as local businessmen, to invest in a local initiative and contribute to the areas in which we live,” he added.
Haddad’s father, Matthew says the camp was an amazing experience for Will and their family is grateful to McDonald’s for giving him the opportunity to attend the camp through the scholarship.
“Will loved the experience as he had lots of fun meeting other players and learning different rugby drills. I would like to thank McDonald’s for giving my son this great opportunity to join this year’s camp,” Matthew said.
