The squad was cut from 43 players to 30 at the end of last year, and Williams was waiting on more news yesterday afternoon.
He had to participate in a final fitness test late yesterday afternoon to make the final cut of 20 players.
Williams was confident going into the test
yesterday.
Both of the boys had two weeks off during the Christmas/New Year break and were told to hit the gym and work on their fitness for when they got back.
Williams put on a few kilos but said he wasn’t worried about his fitness.
Having moved to the Gold Coast at the end of last year, Williams has now secured a job as a teachers; aid at Robina State High.
He, and sister Krystal, had a bit of a scare when the apartment above theirs caught fire.
Williams is now looking at the positives for the future though.
He said it would be good to get a new contract under the same conditions but hopefully better pay.
McDonald has also achieved a lot in a short time.
He got signed with the Titans in November on a two-year contract and feels he is doing well.
Since being signed McDonald has been training hard and his efforts have paid off by making the side.
He is still in the process of finding a job but is looking hard so when he gets the chance, he can play.
The Williams and McDonald families are both very proud.
Williams’ mother Julie Langley is over the moon about it.
“We are all very excited; it’s been his dream since he was seven,” she said.
McDonald’s parents Angela and Allan McDonald support their son all the way. “We are so proud and we will always support him.”
