The game will be played before a NSW Cup game and is an opportunity for the Boars under 16s and 18s to show their talent in front of St George talent scouts.
According to Boars coach Todd Mitchell the club has been organising the game for a few months now.
“It was not our idea for the trial but a Dragons scout who made a trip to Moree last season was impressed by the Moree juniors in both the 16s and 18s sides and suggested the idea for us to bring a side down for a game,” Mitchell said.
Brian Keegan from the Dragons is organising some coaching staff from the Dragons to talk with the boys on the day.
He is also hoping for the new first grade coach of the Dragons, Steve Price, to come down to the game along with former Australian and St George prop Craig Young.
“We don’t have a lot of time to organise the trip but it’s an opportunity we can’t pass up,” Mitchell said.
“We hope it will become an annual event and you never know, they may just come here next season.”
The club is encouraging all under 16s and 18s to attend training each Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6.30pm at Boughton Oval.
“We are hopeful that we might attract some financial support from some local Moree business houses to help towards the cost of the bus and accommodation for the boys,” Mitchell said.
If anyone would like to help out or would like to go to the game to support the boys please contact Todd Mitchell on 0428 867 870 or Glen Holland on 0447 410 361.
Your support would be greatly appreciated.
