Local motocross talent Trent Loder made Moree fans proud recently when he took out first place in his first expert open class ride, and tied for second in his first expert light class race.
He was only just moved up from intermediate level to expert and said he hadn’t expected to be so successful.
“I went in thinking I would do pretty well, I have been putting in extra training,” he said.
“But I didn’t expect to win.
“It was pretty awesome,” Loder said.
He has been involved in motocross since he was a young boy, following along with his brothers in the footsteps of their father.
It was in 2001 Loder got more serious about racing.
He said not many people had been going away to race until recent times.
“There is getting to be a strong following from the Moree (Motocross) Club,” he said.
“There are now ten-plus Moree people going away to race.”
He said as far as he was aware he was the first to be graded pro.
“Dad was the best in the region, he went away to national supercrosses,” he said.
“Me, my brother and my baby brother are following in his footsteps.
“But I don’t think even he was graded pro.”
Loder said he has spent most of his life here in Moree, and enjoys representing the region in races away from home.
He said brothers Jordan and Ryan Hunt also rode well at the event.
Jordan Hunt took out two wins in clubman light races but due to not finishing a race came in tenth overall. Ryan Hunt took out some tops three’s in the same class. The event was held at the Coffs Harbour showgrounds where a purpose built track was constructed for the arena-style event.
