The Boomerangs have swung back into action.
The first training session for the Moree rugby league team took place Tuesday evening at Bloomfield Oval.
There was a good turnout despite the hot conditions.
To build the players’ fitness to prepare for the new football season they trained in touch football style.
The players got together to work on ball skills and team cooperation.
Their first match will take place on April 10 versus Warialda at Warialda.
The full squad will be announced in early March.
The crop of potential players are working out who will play for the Moree rugby league Boomerangs team and the Boars side.
Boomerangs club president Linden McGrady said that the club was still open to new players.
Indigenous and non-indigenous residents in the Moree Plains Shire are invited to come forward.
“It’s not just an Aboriginal side for Aboriginal people, anyone can play,” McGrady said.
The coaches have been announced. Jeremy Smith will coach the first grade side.
Warren Sampson and Wayne Craigie will coach the reserve side.
A junior under 17 side will be coached by Brian Saunders.
If there are enough female players a ladies’ touch side is also possible.
If any potential players are interested please turn up to training on either Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6.30pm at Bloomfield Oval.
“It’s a good start to the new year with the return of the Boomerangs.
“We’re looking forward to playing in the 2010 football season,” club president Linden McGrady said.
