State Emergency Service volunteers have put their lives at risk to save a number of people trapped in floodwaters in the north-west of the state.
Seven flood rescues in the past 24 hours by the NSW SES has highlighted the dangers of floodwater and the need for drivers in particular to act responsibly.
The rescues have mostly been in the north-west of the state. In one incident on Friday two people were trapped in a four-wheel drive 50km west of Bingara.
The NSW SES was unable to reach the pair due to flooded roads and a helicopter was dispatched from Moree.
The helicopter in difficult conditions rescued the two and transported them to Moree where they were given temporary accommodation overnight by Community Services.
In another incident two people from Croppa Creek, near Moree, have become trapped by floodwater in a bogged tractor. A helicopter was used this morning to rescue them.
