The ‘best job in the world’

23 Feb, 2012 09:55 AM
SOMETHING good always comes out of something bad, managing director of Sportsweb Australia Jason Webb says, and he has proved this quote to be true.

After going through a difficult period in his life Mr Webb found his only saviour was exercise.

Mr Webb started training with Danny Cheetham and with his help realised how much he enjoyed feeling healthy and fit.

“I realised that exercise helped me so I wanted to help others in the same situation,” he said.

Then, Mr Webb went to train as a student at the Institute of Fitness for four months.

With his Certificate III and IIII in Fitness Mr Webb started working as a personal trainer at Personal Achievement.

There he was responsible for many clients. “I trained 30 to 40 clients a week, which was a great experience,” Mr Webb said. During this time Mr Webb got involved in many organisations and groups, one being a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.

Bigger dreams were in Mr Webb’s mind though when he started his own small studio in Moree. From 2005 to now Sportsweb has spread through Australia with a train of gyms hopefully soon making their way overseas.

Mr Webb has an average of 30 to 40 clients per week and each day consists of over 10 hours on the job.

“It’s a fantastic responsibility. It’s long hours but your involved in a personal transformation which is a feel-good thing,” he said.

Now Sportsweb is focusing on encouraging more personal trainers in the workforce.

They provide courses that include various things such as business management at a local campus which currently has 10 students.

Sportsweb is than offering these students the chance to work in, manage or own one of Sportsweb’s franchises.

“It’s an exciting thing; the sky really is the limit.

“To sum it all up – being a personal trainer is the best job in the world,” Mr Webb said.
