Police have are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident where a man required 35 stitches after being allegedly glassed in an altercation at Moree.
About 11.30pm on Wednesday a 21-year-old man was in a licensed premise in Frome Street when a dispute broke out between two women near the dance floor.
The man intervened in the dispute and it appears that two other men have also become involved resulting in a physical altercation between them.
Police have been told that one of the men allegedly smashed a glass to the left hand side of the face of the 21-year-old causing numerous lacerations.
The injured man was able to leave through a rear door of the hotel and was met by local police a short distance away.
At Moree Hospital the man required 35 sutures in his facial injuries. He was allowed to leave after receiving treatment.
Investigators from the Barwon Local Area Command visited the hotel but could not establish a crime scene or locate any witnesses.
Arrangements were made to obtain a copy of the CCTV security footage and interviews will be conducted in coming days.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Anyone who has not yet spoken to police should contact Moree Police on 6752 9499 or Crime Stoppers on 1 800 333 000.
