Operations manager, Julie Jones, received a call on Thursday from a resident saying he had run out of his prescription and didn’t know what to do.
Mrs Jones advised him that he would get his medicine.
“He didn’t know what to do; he had run out of his pills,” she said.
Since the store does not have a PBS number the scripts had to be sent to Tamworth.
Mrs Jones sent a prescription out for this resident so that somehow he could receive his medicine.
Camstart Pharmacy in Narrabri were happy to supply the medicines needed for this mission.
Mrs Jones then drove in her 4WD through nine lots of flood water to Narrabri and collected the medicine, proceeding to quickly drive back to her home in Bellata.
When she got to Bellata Chris McNair met Mrs Jones on his horse.
Mr McNair carried the medicine on his horse as far as he could go.
Finally the water became too dangerous for his horse so he carried on with his journey on foot.
“He could see things getting caught in the water.
“Chris said he would rather his legs get caught in the flood rather than his horse,” Mrs Jones said.
The man receiving the medicine met Mr McNair at his drive way, where they met and exchanged medicine.
Meanwhile, the store’s two pharmacists who were cut from town were picked up by the SES and RFS and brought to the store.
It was a happy ending for all thanks to the Moree Discount Drugs Store.
