The Barwon River yesterday experienced a peak of 6.3 metres due to flood waters flowing down from Queensland.
State Emergency Service (SES) North West Region controller Steve Martin said on Tuesday the Mungindi, Garah, Moree, and Boggabilla SES branches remained on call, although the threat of dangerous flooding was minimal.
Mr Martin said SES volunteers were monitoring the water as it moved down the Barwon River.
He said Mungindi residents would not face what Nindigully - situated in Queensland almost directly above Mungindi – had, as floodwater had washed through the town.
“We’re not expecting anything like that,” Mr Martin said.
Mungindi would receive a moderate flood level warning if the Barwon River peaked at 6.7 metres.
Mr Martin said incidents of isolation should remain low for property owners with the Carnarvon Highway to remain open between Moree and Mungindi.
