A facelift has been underway at the Moree Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC), according to manager Jason Brooker.
In conjunction with Joblink Plus, a team of up to six workers will help with renovations to the PCYC.
Three projects are underway to improve the appearance and functionality of the club’s surroundings and facilities.
The boxing room will be renovated with a fresh coat of paint and new flooring.
New boxing equipment such as kickboxing pads and boxing bags will be provided.
The new equipment was made possible from a boxing tournament last year.
The drop-in room will also receive a facelift.
The room will be converted to a mulit-functional facility to hold conferences and meetings.
Referee and umpire training courses will be presented in the room.
Brooker said the service for youths to drop in will still be available but a greater emphasis will be placed on sport and active participation.
“The primary focus is to get people active and to engage them in sport,” he said.
The third project to start in April is to beautify the appearance of the club with landscaping.
The club is in negotiations with Carolyn Osmond from the Fork and Spade to plant trees, shrubs and plants around the PCYC grounds.
Another exciting upgrade to the PCYC is the renovation of the squash courts. The courts were resurfaced and wall cracks were filled and repainted with special squash court paint, in time for the 2010 squash court season.
