Still in its draft stage, the publication titled In Plain View - a snapshot of life on the black soil plains, captures the essence of all aspects of life in the country in an around Moree.
An initiative of the Moree Plains Shire Council, the book has been developed to coincide with the sesquicentenary of Moree, which is celebrated this year.
Project co-ordinator, MPSC communications manager Kerrie-Anne Hare, said the idea is to promote Moree and put the place in a positive light.
“There is a lot of negativity surrounding Moree,” she said. “We hope this publication will dispel some of the negativity and show people what the place is all about.”
The book, which will sit well on the home or office coffee table as you enjoy a cuppa, is due for release this year but may not be in time for the sesquicentenary celebrations of Moree in April.
“There is still a bit of work to do on the book but people will really like it when it is finished.”
A sneak peak between the pages reveals fantastic photographic images from all walks of life. People will see themselves, friends, relatives and others they recognise. The industry and natural aspects are represented as are historical and contemporary issues.
Ms Hare said the book would be well worth the wait.
