Heavy rain has closed main roads in north-western NSW as more residents are urged to evacuate their homes.
Among those major arterial closures are:
- The Newell Highway between Moree and the Queensland border. Thjis will be re-examined tomorrow morning.
- The Carnavon Highway between Mungindi and Moree.
- The Gwydir Highway between Moree and Collarenebri and about 20 kilometres east of Moree.
- The Kamilaroi Highway between Narrabri and Wee Waa.
- The Kamilaroi Highway is closed between Gunnedah and Boggabri.
- Thunderbolts Way near Emu Crossing at Bundarra is closed in both directions.
- The Oxley Highway is closed between Carroll and Gunnedah.
At Bingara, tragedy struck when a three-year-old boy drowned after he was swept into a stormwater drain near his home on Saturday afternoon.
