THE Public Information and Inquiry Centre has been re-activated in support of the NSW State Emergency Service following severe weather and flooding in western and northern NSW.
The centre is staffed by emergency service workers and volunteers and is available to provide information to affected communities regarding displaced families, road closures, welfare assistance and all other general enquiries.
The Public Information and Inquiry Centre can be contacted by telephone on 1800 227 228.
It should be noted this inquiry hotline does not replace the State Emergency Service emergency hotline. Members of the public seeking emergency assistance during a flood or storm should call the NSW State Emergency Service on 132 500.
Additional information can be obtained by visiting the NSW State Emergency Service website at www.ses.nsw.gov.au or Emergency NSW at www.emergency.nsw.gov.au.
Fo r the latest on road closures members of the community can visit the RTA website www.rta.nsw.gov.au or contact their local councils.
For all other emergencies, the public are advised to contact Triple Zero.
Police and emergency services are continuing to remind people whether they are driving, walking or riding, to never enter flood affected areas.
With rain continuing to fall the community is urged not to take risks, to listen to the emergency services and to take care. The simple message is – “if it is flooded, forget it.”
