Feedback sought for new aquifer legislation

30 Jun, 2011 12:17 PM
At Tuesday’s public forum about coal seam gas the community was informed about new legislation regarding aquifers.

Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries said in the CSG industry things were happening too quickly without enough information.

“Some are looking at the issues that have emerged from QLD and now in NSW we have the opportunity to get it right,” Mr Humphries said.

“In the next couple of weeks the government will release new aquifer interference regulations for public comment.

“We need to be able to regulate this on a case by case basis,” Mr Humphries said.

“This issue is right across the state and we ask for the community’s response on regulations.

“They will become legislation by the end of the year so we need your input,” he said.
