AMI Williamson, daughter of famed singer John Williamson, studied music at the Sydney Conservatorium and has since performed in locations all over the world including Germany, New Zealand, the UK and the middle east.
On the night of the Fairview fundraiser she will be performing her ‘One Woman Show’ which contains elements of folk pop and opera with a theatrical edge.
Event organisers Joy Holmes and Penny Boydell have been holding fundraisers for Fairview every two years and have spent almost all of the past two years organising this one.
“We wanted an evening that everybody would enjoy at a reasonable price,” Mrs Boydell said, “And the concert with Ami is an opportunity not to be missed; she is enormously talented,” she added.
Mrs Holmes and Mrs Boydell said they hoped to raise a substantial amount of money for the ongoing improvements at Fairview.
“In the past the money has gone to outdoor furniture, paintings and even a spa bath,” Mrs Holmes said.
“The aim is to make Fairview homely and not an institution,” she said.
For Ms Williams herself, Fairview is a cause close to her heart - her grandparents Keith and Shirley Williamson live in Fairview Nursing Home.
“I spent a great deal of time with family in Moree... and the care (for older people) in country towns is so much better than in cities,” Ms Williams said.
“I hope that everyone who comes along enjoys themselves and I’ll be putting on a great show,” she said.
Mrs Holmes and Mrs Boydell said they were looking forward to plenty of people coming out to a great night of music, and supporting Fairview.
“After the flooding we think it’s time for people to have some enjoyment and we’re expecting it to be a great night,” Mrs Boydell said.
The concert will be held on Saturday, March 3 in the gardens of 46 Boonery Rd.
People are invited to arrive for ‘Music in the Garden with Ami’ at 7.30pm for an 8pm concert start.
Tickets are $35 and include a light supper after the show.
They are available from Wise Words Bookshop, Sylvia’s Fabrics, My Store, and Fairview.
