Evacuation centre will close on Tuesday

06 Feb, 2012 02:02 PM
MOREE has started its recovery phase after the devastating flood which hit last week.

There is still a few people using the evacuation centre at the PCYC.

Accommodation was provided for most evacuated residents but there were still about 40 who slept in the centre.

As of tomorrow the evacuation centre will be closed and a recovery centre wil be set up at the town hall.

Moree Plains Shire Mayor Katrina Humphries said at the end of the day we could fix anything but we couldn't fix a life.

"The community is amazing," Councillor Humphries said. "So many people have lost valuables but there is alweays someone who is worse off," she said.

"While we're drying off other places are copping it worse."
