Cooper set for Fashion Week

27 Jan, 2012 01:20 PM
Mr Cooper, the winner of the most recent Project Runway Australia, spent the Christmas break in New York and Canada before flying into Europe for some “much needed down time”.

“I was flown to New York as part of the prize for winning Project Runway,” Mr Cooper said.

“It was amazing. I was able to gather some really great inspiration for my next project,” he said.

Mr Cooper was crowned the winner of the well-known, hit television show Project Runway Australia on Monday, September 12.

“I still can’t believe that I was the winner. There were so many worthy opponents. It’s just been a fantastic experience,” Mr Cooper said.

The winning prize allowed Mr Cooper to have a six-page spread showcasing his best designs in well-known fashion magazine Madison.

Mr Cooper’s interest in fashion came at a young age and has stemmed from the classroom into the studio where he is currently working on designs for the upcoming Fashion Week.

“I enjoyed my holiday, perhaps a little too much. Now I’ll be spending my time in the studio putting together prints and fabrics from dusk till dawn,” he said.

Mr Cooper said he had an idea of what he would be presenting at Fashion Week but nothing was is set in stone at this stage.

“It’s a working progress. Hopefully I’ll be able to give you guys a sneak peek before it kicks off in May,” he said.

Mr Cooper dreams of becoming one of the most well-known and respected names in the fashion industry.

“Things have changed a lot for me on a career level. I’m more focused now and can handle pressure,” he said.

Mr Cooper believes Fashion Week will bring some of his design ideas to light and attract some interested buyers in the fashion industry.

He has kept close ties with the host and judges on the previous Project Runway Australia and if all things go to plan could be getting a call up to appear on the show as a guest judge.

“It would be great to appear on the show again. We will just have to wait and see what happens.”

He plans on returning to Moree sometime after Fashion Week to visit family and friends.
