Colless challenges rivals again

17 Aug, 2010 01:42 PM
Independent candidate for Parkes Mick Colless has again challenged his “p...weak” rivals to a debate in Moree.

Mr Colless said that since issuing his first challenge on August 5, he had yet to hear from his four rivals: the incumbent, Mark Coulton of the Nationals, Labor’s Andrew Brooks, Matt Parmeter of the Greens and fellow independent John Clements.

He said it was “p...weak” and “wrong” that the four were refusing to take part in a people’s forum in Moree.

He also alleged that they have been focusing almost all their campaigning efforts on Dubbo and surrounds.

“Do the other four candidates not care about this end of the electorate?” he asked.

“I don’t think 90 per cent of the places are getting a fair shake when it comes to voting day - they’re only looking at the bigger end.”

Mr Colless’ challenge comes after John Williams, The Nationals’ senator for NSW, accepted a challenge from the Greens’ Lee Rhiannon to a debate on who really cares for regional Australia.
