With the Moree sesquicentenary just around the corner it’s time to bring out the notepad and pen, draw some inspiration from your surroundings and get writing.
Organiser of the poet’s breakfast and member of the sesquicentenary committee, Claude Magarry, said applications were open with entries starting to be sent in.
“We are hoping to get about 30 or 40 entries from local residents,” Mr Magarry said.
There will be three prizes on offer for the most creative and inspirational poems.
The theme for the competition is the history of Moree.
“We want our entrants to reflect the rich and diverse history of Moree.”
B&W Rural are the major sponsors on the day and will be donating a $400 cash prize to the winner. Coles will be sponsoring second prize and Metaland will be sponsoring third prize.
“We are really looking forward to sitting down and reading some of the entries submitted by local resident,” Mr Magarry said.
“It’s very exciting; hopefully we can draw in a big crowd for the day’s festivities,” he said.
There will be an open age limit, so it doesn’t matter if your five or 50, each entrant will have the chance to take home the $400 cash prize.
