The Moree and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 2010 Excellence in Business Awards have been postponed.
Chamber executive officer Karen Bruin said they were now looking to hold the awards at the beginning of the new year, following a chamber of commerce meeting on Tuesday night.
The awards were originally scheduled for August 20.
Ms Bruin said holding the awards in the new year was more convenient because it would fit in with the calendar year, rather than the financial year.
The community was currently busy organising the Healing Waters Festival, she said, and the new year was a quieter time slot for the business awards event.
“We’re postponing it until early next year, at this stage,” she said.
Last year, W.J. Matthews took out the major accolade; the Westpac 2009 Moree and District Business of the Year.
The business also picked up the NAB Agricultural Services Award on the night, being the only business to take out two awards.
